Welcome to 7th Grade Drama
Description: This class will introduce 7th grade students to the exciting world of Drama. Throughout
Content: There are multiple facets to the Drama curriculum and all are interconnected and build the year long course, students will have the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge based on Theatre Etiquette, Non-Verbal Communication, Voice Exploration, Creative Writing, Improvisation, and Musical Theatre, while reflecting on their work through self-reflective writing and conversation. They are the following:
1. Intro to Drama
2. Non-Verbal Communication
3. Finding Your Voice
4. Page to the Stage
5. Improvisation
6. Musical Theatre
Instruction: Instruction is facilitated through several different means and all students are expected to participate fully in each aspect. They are the following:
1. Instructor Lecture
2. Instructor Handouts
3. Individual classwork
4. Classroom warm-ups, explorations, and exercises
5. Ensemble classroom work and performances
Assessment: Assessment is based on the following:
1. Written reflections and self-analysis
2. Unit performances based on rubrics
3. Participation in daily classes as well as individual and group presentations
Grading: Since all elements are equally important, all aspects are weighted equally. The categories are the following:
1. Attendance/Participation
2. Performances and Projects
3. Journal writing
