Welcome to 6th Grade Drama
Description: This class will begin the educational experience of 6th Grade students into the exciting world of Drama. Throughout the trimester long course, students will have the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge through the study of multiple lessons. Students will reflect on their work through writing, performance, and in class conversation.
Content: There are multiple facets to the Drama curriculum and all are interconnected and build upon each other. They are the following:
1. Intro to Stage Basics
2. Theatre Etiquette and Pantomime
3. Mask Making
4. Mask Making part 2
5. Fables Brought to Life
6. Puppetry Exploration
7. Puppet Creation
8. Improvisation of Listening
9. Improvisation and Observation
10. Process Drama
Instruction: Instruction is facilitated through several different means and all students are expected to participate fully in each aspect. They are the following:
1. Instructor Lecture
2. Instructor Handouts
3. Individual Classwork
4. Classroom warm ups, explorations, and exercises
5. Ensemble classroom work and performances
Assessment: Assessment is based on the following:
1. Written reflections and self-analysis
2. Unit performances based on rubrics
3. Participation in daily classes as well as individual group presentations

1. Attendance/ Participation
2. Performances and Projects
3. Reflections, Journals, Exit tickets
